Virtual Production
Since 2017 I have been fascinated with immersive realties - VR, AR, MR. Shooting and producing 360 films and 6DoF immersive content. In 2020 I noticed a convergence between these two worlds given the success of using LED Volumetric stages on Disney’s The Mandalorian and began focusing my career as a cinematographer towards shooting Virtual Production environments. Here is my way of keeping track of the projects and initiatives I have been involved with in the world of VP.
I wrote a series of four articles in partnership with NoFilmSchool to help filmmakers take their first steps in the world of Virtual Production and teach the basic tools and practices of how to work with it.
Promosa | VP Testing
Assisted Promosa with the testing of their prototype Virtual Production stage in Vancouver.
CSC | virtual production panel discussion
I organized and hosted a panel discussion on all things Virtual Production in Canada. Fellow panelists include Jeremy Benning of the hit Amazon series The Expanse and Brendan Taylor of Mavericks VFX.
DGC | Virtual Production Workshop
In February 2021 I was chosen to be the cinematographer for eight micro-films directed by eight amazing DGC directors as a part of a training workshop hosted by the Director’s Guild of Canada. This was shot in partnership with Animism and ShowMax at their state of the art virtual production facility in Vancouver, BC.
